Why TikTok limits the reach of your LIVE and how to run a good stream
TikTok may not recommend a stream that repeats the same content all the time. This article tells what is known, how to run a stream with games and what not to do.

Why TikTok limits a stream, in short
First, the honest part. TikTok does not publish its recommendation formula. It also does not say how many repeats make a stream lose reach. This article separates what is known from our advice.
What is known
TikTok rules. The Community Guidelines tell that a streamer is responsible for all that happens on the stream, and also for third-party tools. If a creator often shows content below the standards of the For You feed, TikTok can temporarily restrict the creator. An attempt to go around a restriction can cause a ban of the account.
Monetization. In its news about streams for 2024, TikTok wrote that creators cannot earn money with LIVE features from inauthentic and low-quality content.
NPC streams. In 2023, Brazilian media reported that NPC streamers got a notification. It said that the stream does not go to the For You feed and is harder to find in search. The reason in the notification was too repetitive, inauthentic or degrading actions for gifts.
This is not about chat games. But the logic is clear: the same action in a loop, for gifts, is a risk.
What we do not know. We did not find an official rule about stream games. Third-party guides say that TikTok sees an empty screen, a sleeping streamer and a video in a loop as low quality. We did not find this in the texts of TikTok.
What TikTok can see as a repeat
There is no exact list, so check your stream yourself. These signs look bad:
- One screen for the full stream. One game with one loop runs for many hours.
- No host. No person is on the stream. Nobody talks or replies in the chat.
- A recording in place of a stream. A video runs in a loop.
- Requests for gifts all the time. The chat sees only a request to send a gift.
- Many identical streams. One person runs the same content from several accounts at the same time.
How to run a stream with a game
Change the games
Different games have different speeds: a fast quiz, a calm word game or a team battle. A new viewer sees something new, and a regular viewer does not get bored.
In Pogzo, each game has its own link. Add several games as separate sources in OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio and show the game that you need. Each game keeps its settings in its panel. You can see all games on the site.
Let the chat select the next game
When a round ends, ask the chat: "What do we play next? 1 for flags, 2 for trivia". So each stream goes its own way, and the viewers decide what comes next. It also gives you a reason to talk with the chat.
Stay on the stream
The game runs the rounds, but it does not replace a person, and it does not reply to viewers.
- Turn on the camera or at least the microphone. A viewer must see that a person is on the stream.
- Talk about the game. "Two letters left, who is the fastest?" works better than silence.
- Use names. Say congratulations to the winner and ask how they found the answer.
- Tell the rules. New viewers come all the time.
You can go away for a minute. If you must go away for a long time, end the stream.
Do not ask for gifts all the time
Let a gift do something in the game: this is already a reason to send it. The settings of each game have Gift list → Show from time to time. The gift list disappears and comes back. To learn more, read how to get gifts on TikTok LIVE.
Watch your tools
You are responsible for the game on your stream. Check what the viewers see, and set up the word filter of the game if it has one. In Contextno, this is Stop words.
Run different streams on different accounts
Pogzo lets you add several TikTok accounts. This is useful when you have really different projects. Do not run the same stream on all accounts at the same time: it looks like a farm and can cause restrictions.
What not to do
- Do not hide a repeat with random noise. Random colors or small moves on the screen do not make a stream better. The viewer is just as bored, and an attempt to trick the check is a risk for the account.
- Do not write in the chat with bots. Fake messages and fake viewers are the inauthentic content that the TikTok rules talk about.
- Do not make a new account after a restriction. This looks like an attempt to go around the restriction, and it can cause a ban.
How to know that your reach fell
- Check the notifications. If TikTok restricted a stream, the app can show a notification with the reason. Take a screenshot.
- See where the viewers came from. The LIVE analytics of TikTok show how many viewers came from recommendations.
- Compare streams of the same length. Look at similar days and hours. One bad stream does not tell much.
- Change one thing at a time. First, run several streams with different games. Then add the camera. So you see what helped.
If you think that the notification is a mistake and the app offers an appeal, send it.
Summary
A stream must be really alive: different games, a person on the stream and viewers who change what comes next. This does not guarantee recommendations. But such a stream is more interesting for viewers, and they stay longer.
