TikTok diamonds in short
TikTok does not publish an exact diamond rate, and the rate can be different in different countries. All numbers in this article are estimates. Streamers and statistics services give similar numbers.
Coins and diamonds: what is the difference?
TikTok has two currencies, and people often confuse them:
- Coins: A viewer buys coins with money and sends gifts with them. You cannot change coins back to money. To see the prices of coins and gifts, read TikTok gift prices.
- Diamonds: A streamer gets diamonds for gifts. You cannot buy diamonds. You can only get them for gifts and change them to money.
The money goes this way: the viewer pays for coins, the viewer sends a gift, the streamer gets diamonds, and the streamer withdraws money.
How much is 1 diamond?
1 diamond is worth about $0.005. An easy way to count: 200 diamonds are about 1 dollar.
| Diamonds | In dollars |
|---|---|
| 1 | ≈ $0.005 |
| 200 | ≈ $1 |
| 1,000 | ≈ $5 |
| 10,000 | ≈ $50 |
| 100,000 | ≈ $500 |
| 1,000,000 | ≈ $5,000 |
How much a streamer gets for gifts
A viewer pays about $0.0104 for a coin on the TikTok site and about $0.013 in the app. The streamer gets about $0.005 for the same coin. TikTok keeps the remaining money. If the viewer buys coins in the app, Apple or Google also takes a part.
| Gift | Coins | Viewer pays | Streamer gets |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ≈ $0.01 | ≈ $0.005 | |
| 5 | ≈ $0.05 | ≈ $0.03 | |
| 30 | ≈ $0.31 | ≈ $0.15 | |
| 100 | ≈ $1.04 | ≈ $0.50 | |
| 299 | ≈ $3.11 | ≈ $1.50 | |
| 1,000 | ≈ $10.40 | ≈ $5.00 | |
| 4,888 | ≈ $50.84 | ≈ $24.44 | |
| 10,000 | ≈ $104 | ≈ $50.00 | |
| 29,999 | ≈ $312 | ≈ $150 | |
| 44,999 | ≈ $468 | ≈ $225 |
For example, a streamer gets about 30,000 diamonds for a Lion (29,999 coins). This is about $150. The viewer pays about $312 on the site or about $390 in the app.
So the streamer gets about half of the price on the site. If the viewer bought the coins in the app, the streamer gets about 40% or less.
Who can get gifts and diamonds
Not all accounts can get gifts on a stream. TikTok has these conditions:
- Age. You must be 18 or older to get gifts and to send them. Some countries can have a higher age.
- Access to TikTok LIVE. You usually need 1,000 followers to stream, but the number is different in different countries.
- An account with no violations. If you break the rules, TikTok can turn off gifts or freeze your diamonds.
- The country of the account. Gifts and withdrawals do not work in all countries.
How to withdraw TikTok diamonds
TikTok shows your diamonds and the withdrawal button in your balance. Open your profile, tap the menu at the top and find Balance. An app update can change the menu.
- Add a withdrawal method. This is usually PayPal or a bank transfer. The list of methods depends on the country of the account.
- Get to the minimum amount. Many guides name $100, but the amount can depend on the country and the account. TikTok shows the exact amount on the withdrawal screen.
- Withdraw the money. The money usually comes in a few days, and sometimes in 2 to 3 weeks. PayPal and your bank can take a fee.
If you have less than the minimum, the diamonds stay on your balance until your next withdrawal.
Which risks to avoid
Some sites offer to withdraw diamonds through a middleman, another person's account or an account from another country. Be careful:
- A middleman can disappear with your money. You cannot get it back, because TikTok is not responsible for deals outside the app.
- TikTok can block a withdrawal. If the withdrawal data is not yours, TikTok can stop the withdrawal and restrict the account.
- Do not give anyone your account password. Scammers often attack accounts with diamonds.
Withdraw diamonds only to your own PayPal account or bank account, in the app.
How to get more diamonds
You get more diamonds when viewers send gifts more often, not only more expensive gifts. A hundred viewers with a Rose each can be better for a stream than one Lion a month. TikTok sees that many people are interested and can show the stream to new viewers.
Viewers send gifts more often when a gift changes something on the screen. So streamers add games that the chat plays. In Pogzo games, a Rose opens a letter, a Doughnut skips a question, and a gift of 99 coins calls a boss. To learn more, read how to get gifts on TikTok LIVE.
