Can you stream TikTok games from a phone?
TikTok can show your phone screen on a stream in place of the camera. This mode is for mobile games, but the viewers see all that is on the screen. A Pogzo game is a web page, so it works in a usual phone browser.
The game reads the chat of your stream by your name, and it counts the answers, votes and gifts. It works in the same way with a stream from a computer or a phone. On a phone, the game fits the screen and keeps its text above and below the TikTok buttons.
What you need
- Access to TikTok LIVE. You usually must be 18 or older and have 1,000 followers, but the number depends on the country. To learn more, read how to grow your TikTok LIVE.
- A screen share in the TikTok app. Not all accounts have it. Open the LIVE screen and check if you can select Mobile gaming in place of the camera.
- An Android phone or an iPhone with a good internet connection. Wi‑Fi is better, because the stream and the game use a lot of data.
- A Pogzo account. Each day, 40 minutes of stream with games are free. For longer streams, you need a plan from $4 a month.
Step 1. Open the game on your phone
- Open pogzo.com in your phone browser and sign in with your email.
- Select a game, for example Would You Rather? or Ball Royale.
- Type your TikTok name: the name after @ in your profile.
- Tap Open the game. The game opens in a new tab.
Use a usual browser: Safari on an iPhone or Chrome on Android. Do not open the link from Telegram, TikTok or Instagram. These apps open it inside the app, and it can close when you go to TikTok. If the game opens inside an app, it shows a button: Open in Safari or Open in Chrome.
If the panel is open on a computer, click Stream from a phone under the game link. The panel shows a QR code. Point your phone camera at the code, and the game opens on the phone.
Step 2. Tap "Start"
On a phone, the game first shows the screen The game is ready for your stream. Tap Start:
- The game sounds come on. A phone browser plays no sound before a tap.
- On Android, the game fills the screen, with no address bar.
- The phone screen stays on while the game is open.
Above the button, the game shows if it can find your stream. For example, it shows that it waits for the stream or that TikTok cannot find your name. So you can check the connection with no computer.
iPhone: add the game to the Home Screen
Safari cannot open a page on the full screen, so the viewers see the address bar. To remove it, make an icon for the game on the Home Screen:
- In Safari, tap Share: the square with an arrow.
- Select Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
- Close Safari and open the game with the new icon.
The icon opens the game with no address bar. The game link does not change, so the icon works for each stream.
Android: the game on the full screen
In Chrome, the Start button opens the game on the full screen. If the browser bars come back, tap the game one time. You can also add the game to the Home screen: in the Chrome menu, select Add to Home screen. Then the game always opens on the full screen.
Step 3. Start a LIVE with a screen share
- Open TikTok and tap + at the bottom of the screen.
- Select LIVE.
- Change the mode from the camera to Mobile gaming. This is the most important step: on a usual stream, the viewers see the camera, not the game.
- Select the Portrait screen, not Landscape. In Landscape, TikTok puts the tall phone screen into a wide video, and the viewers see the game as a narrow strip in the middle.
- Write a title for the stream, for example "Play with the chat: write 1 or 2", and tap Go LIVE.
- The phone asks for permission to record the screen:
- iPhone: In the Screen Broadcast window, select TikTok and tap Start Broadcast. If you select Photos, the phone records a video for itself, not for the stream.
- Android: Select the recording of the entire screen, not one app. If not, the viewers see only TikTok.
The names of the buttons depend on the TikTok version and the country. If you do not have the screen share mode, TikTok did not give it to your account yet.
Step 4. Go back to the game
At once, leave TikTok and open the game tab or the game icon. The viewers see your phone screen. While TikTok is on the screen, they do not see the game. Now the viewers see the game on the full screen, and TikTok shows your name, the chat and the gift buttons over it.
In less than a minute, the game connects to the chat and starts a round. To see each game on a stream, open the stream demo.
How to control the game during the stream
The viewers see all of your phone screen. If you open the game panel on this phone during the stream, they see the panel too. So:
- Set up the game before the stream: the round time, the gifts and the sounds. The game keeps the settings for the next stream.
- Use a second device. Open the game panel on a computer, a tablet or a second phone with the same account. The buttons and the settings work at once, and the viewers do not see them.
- Watch the game and not the chat. The games show the names and the answers of the viewers. If you go to TikTok to read the chat, the viewers see TikTok and not the game.
Tips for a phone stream
- Turn on Do Not Disturb. If not, the viewers see your notifications and messages.
- Connect the phone to a charger. The stream and the full-screen game use the battery quickly.
- Keep the phone vertical and put it on a stand. The games have a vertical screen.
- Check the sound before the stream. The Game sounds setting in the panel turns the sounds on. If an iPhone has no sound, check the volume and turn off the silent mode: on old iOS versions, it stops the browser sound.
- Turn off the power-saving mode. In this mode, the phone can turn off the screen and stop the browser.
If something does not work
- The viewers do not see the game. Check three things. The stream uses Mobile gaming, not the camera. The phone screen shows the game, not TikTok. On Android, TikTok records the entire screen, not one app. If one of these is wrong, end the stream and start it again as in step 3.
- The viewers see the game as a narrow strip in the middle. The stream is in Landscape. The game sees this and shows a warning. End the stream and start it again. Before Go LIVE, select Portrait.
- The game closes when you go to TikTok. The game was open inside another app, for example Telegram. Open it in Safari or Chrome.
- The game waits for the stream. The stream did not start, or the name in the panel is wrong. Check the name: it is the name after @, not the display name.
- The viewers see the address bar. On an iPhone, add the game to the Home Screen. On Android, tap the game to open the full screen again.
- There is no sound. Tap the game one time: a browser plays sound only after a tap. If the phone loaded the game again, the button Tap to turn on the sound is at the bottom. Check the phone volume and the Game sounds setting.
- The screen turns off. Turn off the power-saving mode, because it can stop the game from keeping the screen on. You can also set a longer auto-lock time in the phone settings.
- TikTok has no screen share. Stream from a computer. The TikTok LIVE Studio guide takes five minutes.
